The 17th Kunming Maple Leaves Festival kicks off

The best season to enjoy the sight of maples has coming! Since November, the 17th Kunming Maple Leaves Festival began in Black Dragon Pool Park and the wonderful maple scenery will last for a month.
The Red Maple Hill in Black Dragon Pool Park was built in 1977. 1997 red maples were planted to commemorate the return of Hong Kong to China. After years of development, the Red Maple Hill has become a well-known autumn scenic spot in Kunming. Now the hill consists of more than 8000 trees, including sweetgum, maples and red maples.
From the end of October to the end of November every year, the whole hill is covered with red maples. Because of rain and weather, the best season to enjoy maples came about 10 days later this year.
Compared to October, the daily number of tourists has more than doubled in November and reached over 3000 a day. Tourists reach its peak between 10 o’clock and 16 o’clock. As the best spot to enjoy the sight of maples in Kunming, the festival in Black Dragon Pool Park will last to Nov. 30.
