An exhibition showcasing the achievements of Luliang county in Qujing, Yunnan province, along with a promotional event for its products, opened in Beijing on Friday.
The exhibition highlights how people from different ethnic groups in Luliang have worked together in unity and pursued common prosperity under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.
Located in southwestern China, Luliang is home to one of the largest plateau flatlands in Yunnan. With more than 20 ethnic groups, the county has made notable progress in areas such as grain production, pig farming, high-quality silk, and cultural development.
At the opening ceremony, Cao Wei, Luliang county's Party secretary, extended a warm invitation to guests to visit the hometown of Cuan culture — a unique regional tradition that flourished in Yunnan between the 3rd and 8th centuries under the Cuan clan.
Blending Han Chinese traditions with local ethnic elements, the culture is best known for its distinctive calligraphy preserved on the Cuan steles. Visitors can explore the heritage of this thousand-year-old Cuan region, taste its ecologically grown fruits and vegetables, and experience the warmth of everyday life on the plateau highlands, as well as the tangible improvements in people's livelihoods.
Through archival footage, physical displays, and live performances, the exhibition offers a vivid picture of how people of all ethnic groups in Luliang interact, exchange and integrate. It also highlights Luliang's experience in developing itself into a demonstration county for ethnic unity and progress.
Through multimedia presentations, exhibition panels on Cuan culture, live intangible cultural heritage performances, traditional handicraft experiences and cultural tourism product promotions, the event also provides a systematic overview of the historical origins, development, cultural significance and contemporary value of Cuan culture. It brings to life stories of interaction, exchange and integration among the county's ethnic groups, while further highlighting the distinctive identity of Luliang as the "hometown of Cuan culture".
The exhibition also features a rural vitalization section showcasing the county's quality ecological products, including artichokes, honey-scented pears, truffles, edible fungi, plateau vegetables and silk products.
