Cambodia expects 8 mln air passengers in 2026

Cambodia is expected to receive 8 million air passengers in 2026, up from 6.98 million last year, Mao Havannall, minister in charge of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA), said on Friday.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the SSCA's two-day annual conference, Havannall said the Southeast Asian country also predicted a rise in air cargo this year to 112,000 tons from 93,889 tons last year.

"Air transportation has played a crucial role in promoting tourism, business, trade, investment, and socio-cultural connectivity," he said.

Cambodia has three international airports in operation, and 36 international and domestic airlines have operated flights to Cambodia and connect the kingdom's air routes with eight fellow ASEAN member states, as well as with China, South Korea, Japan, Qatar, India, among others, according to the minister.
