“Mushroom King” spotted in Jingdong

As the rainy season has come, all kinds of wild edible mushrooms sprout in the forest in Jingdong Yi Autonomous County in southwest Yunnan’s Pu’er City. “The mushroom picking rush” is thriving, appealing to many people to look for mushrooms. From July 1 to 2, local people continuously found 5 huge wild boletus in a garden of Jingdong.

On July 1, Yanghua, a mid-aged lady, found three huge wild boletus, the biggest of which measures 40 cm in diameter and it weights 2.49 kg. She said it is the first time to find such big boletus here.

Ms. Yang spotted two huge wild boletus again on the following day. The boletus were very fresh with dews on them. After being weighed on the scale, it is heavier than that of yesterday, as much as 2.8 kg, which was hailed as “The Mushroom King".

There are some tips for eating wild mushrooms. Do not pick, sell, buy and eat wild mushrooms you are not familiar with, especially the ones with bright color, mildew or too little to identify. When cooking and processing wild mushrooms, do not mix more varieties, and cook them thoroughly before eating. Do not drink alcohol when eating wild mushrooms.

If you feel uncomfortable after eating wild mushrooms, such as nausea, dizziness, vomiting, blur vision, hallucination on sight or hearing, you should go to a formal medical institution for treatment immediately.
