On September 25, the 2026 Dianchi Food & Culture Festival for the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays officially opened in Kunming. During the eight-day holiday spanning the two festivals, Kunming is hosting more than 300 cultural and tourism events under the theme “Moonlit Nights by Dianchi, Flavors of Yunnan.”

Centered on the distinctive flavors of Yunnan cuisine, the festival brings together a diverse range of activities, including cultural performances, traditional intangible cultural heritage and folk customs, trendy sports, rural markets, and special offers for visitors. The events are being rolled out across the city under a “2+3+N” model, with two main venues on the eastern and western shores of Dianchi Lake serving as the focal points, three supporting venues in Guandu, Chenggong, and Jinning districts, and a wider network of activities across Panlong and Wuhua districts, as well as Yiliang, Fumin, and Luquan counties.

From the aroma of coffee along the U-shaped bend of the Dianchi Greenway to elegant chrysanthemum gatherings at Daguan Pavilion, and the warmth of traditional bonfires at Yunnan Ethnic Village, Kunming is presenting a festive Dianchi cultural and tourism experience that visitors can taste, savor, hear, see, and enjoy. Through this diverse celebration, the city is further showcasing its identity as “Lakefront Spring City Blossoming Landscape” and extending an invitation to visitors from China and around the world to experience “Yunnan: A many-splendored life.”

From September 25 to October 7, come together in the Spring City, take in the moonlight over Dianchi, and share the warmth of family reunion this festive season.
