Applying artificial intelligence research to practical use, Xiong'an New Area in Hebei province is using a new training base to connect talent development with corporate demand and real-world projects.
Launching operations on Thursday with the opening of Xiong'an's first AI training class, the base combines hands-on training in AI and information technology, with courses designed around the actual capabilities required for specific jobs.
"The curriculum is developed by starting with real-world needs and working backward to define the knowledge and practical skills trainees require," said Ma Yangbiao, general manager of Xiong'an Science and Technology Industrial Park Development and Management Co Ltd, the parent company of the base's operator.
The base targets users including centrally administered State-owned enterprises and universities relocating to Xiong'an, government departments and public institutions in the new area, as well as universities and companies in nearby provinces, Ma said.
"We have developed a progressive training system, ranging from basic AI literacy for the general public to advanced engineering programs for high-caliber professionals," he said, adding that the facility offers more than 480 courses supported by 25 specialized training labs, bringing together complementary sources of expertise to build an integrated AI teaching system.
The facility includes leading technology companies that introduce cutting-edge technologies used in the field, professors from top universities who strengthen students' theoretical foundations and foster research-oriented thinking, and industry specialists who share experience from real-world projects, Ma said.
One participating company is Huaqing Zhiyan, a large language AI model and computing service provider.
"This AI training platform is our first product developed here. It supports AI-assisted lesson preparation, one-click generation of instructors' teaching videos, and automated scheduling and distribution, helping users quickly understand and master AI principles and progress from beginner to advanced levels," said Liu Yuxi, an engineer at the company.
The Xiong'an Artificial Intelligence Institute is already using the platform to train its researchers, Liu said.
AI is also embedded in everyday life at the base, extending the learning experience beyond classrooms and laboratories, and even including cafeteria-based activities.
"AI technology is integrated throughout the dining process, from ordering and collecting meals to payment. The aim is to improve efficiency while allowing trainees to experience AI in everyday settings and deepen their understanding of the technology," Ma said.
