The Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) approved the transfer of five government-affiliated agencies to become public service units under its administration, local newspaper Nhan Dan reported Wednesday.
The move covers key media outlets, including Vietnam Television, Voice of Vietnam and the Vietnam News Agency, as well as the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, according to a communique of the second meeting of the 14th CPVCC published by the newspaper.
The CPVCC ordered the transition to be completed before April 1.
The committee also endorsed the establishment of the southern province of Dong Nai as a centrally run city, with the government asked to complete the proposal for submission to the first session of the 16th National Assembly.
The CPVCC's second meeting ran from Monday to Wednesday and reached consensus on major issues, including personnel work and fundamental Party regulations.
