Recently, the 23-kilometer-long section of Dianchi Lake Greenway encircling Caohai has entered the final stage of construction. After the completion of the entire project, it will provide citizens with a short-distance travel experience, walking or cycling along the Dianchi Lake. By then, the area will become a beautiful new landscape in Kunming.

In the section of Dianchi Lake Greenway encircling Caohai, the Haigeng Dam is the place you cannot miss. Since 1985, tens of thousands of black-headed gulls have gathered here every winter to meet with Kunming citizens. The Haigeng Dam is a relatively concentrated area for bird watching. Although it is not the season for bird watching, tourists and citizens are still flocking to the Haigeng Dam every day for a walk, to enjoy the breeze and watch the sunset.
By following the Chuanfang River trail, you can enter the section of Dianchi Lake Greenway encircling Caohai. Here, you will meet the most famous rainbow trail of the Dianchi Lake Greenway, which includes the most beautiful "S"-shaped bend. The pedestrian path is close to the water, while the red cycling path is lively and dynamic. When viewed from above, the greenway resembles a beautiful rainbow, with the different colors representing different activities. Walking along the path is like walking in a painting, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Dianchi Lake and the Western Mountains in the distance.
Caohai Tunnel Park
Nearby, the Caohai Tunnel Park is a beautiful flower garden with a variety of flowers such as bristly dogstail grass, canna indica, and daisies. The flowers form a stunning sea of colors. The wetland harbor along the lake is also full of lush greenery. Being there is a refreshing and unforgettable experience, allowing visitors to relax.
At the Daguan River, a new bridge called "Chaoyun Bridge" has been built, connecting the northern and eastern sections of the enclosed greenway around Caohai. The construction of the bridge is almost completed, and standing on the bridge, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the landscape in the Daguan Park.
West Bank of Dianchi Lake
Continuing westward from the entrance of Daguan Park, visitors can enter the northern section of the greenway encircling Caohai. This area is located on the west bank of Dianchi Lake and is surrounded by lush vegetation. There are several scenic spots, including forest trails and lakeside pathways. This area is a comprehensive ecological greenway that combines nature conservation, ecological tourism, science education, leisure and entertainment, and cultural experiences.
Gangouwei Wetland Park
Dongfengba is located in the Caohai area of Dianchi Lake. It is a dam structure that serves as a front reservoir for Caohai and is located north of the No.2 Wetland near Yunliang River and west of Wangjiadui Wetland near Gaoyao Viaduct. The dam extends into Caohai, providing an excellent panoramic view of the Dianchi Lake scenery.
Continuing westward along the greenway, visitors will arrive at Wangjiadui Wetland, which is planted with a large number of well-arranged plants,. The Wetland features a natural lakeside ecological landscape with distinct and seasonal changes.
"Gaoyao Gudu" Floating Bridge
The "Gaoyao Gudu" floating bridge is also a popular attraction that many people are paying attention to. At present, 63 steel floating sails have been installed, and the boat deck has been completed. The floating bridge adopts a boat-shaped design, showcasing the fishing port scene and the fishing culture of Dianchi Lake. After the completion of the space below the greenway bridge, it will be open to the public.
The pedestrian walkway under the Gaohai Expressway has just been painted with a romantic and dreamy purple color. Together with the red and blue cycling paths and the gray pedestrian paths, they form the "third color" of the Dianchi Lake Greenway.
