China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) has published its first sustainable development report for Sri Lanka, a press release from the company said Friday.
The CSCEC Sri Lanka Sustainability Report, titled "Witness Happiness", was launched on Thursday during a ceremony held online, with participants from Colombo and Beijing.
The report outlines CSCEC's concept of sustainability and aims to inform stakeholders about the company's practices in Sri Lanka. The report includes official statistics from CSCEC and its undertakings of social responsibilities in Sri Lanka.
"CSCEC will actively implement our corporate social responsibility, follow the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and build sustainable development in Sri Lanka with high-standard technology, high-grade services and high-quality projects," the report said.
General Manager of CSCEC Overseas Department and Chairman of CSCEC International Operations, Gao Bo, said that CSCEC acts with social responsibility in each country of operation, with an aim of achieving win-win cooperation, and strengthening people-to-people bonds, exchanges and mutual learning between China and local communities.
CSCEC is one of the largest investment and construction groups in the world. CSCEC's activity in Sri Lanka can be traced back to the construction of the Bandaranaike International Conference Building in 1973.
