[InKunming--Kunming]  The first phase of Kunming’s metro project, namely the north section of Metro Line 1 and Line 2, are estimated to be set for trail operation on April 30. The two lines have 19 stops in total, covering a distance of 20.85 kilometers.

By now, aged residents and students are available to apply for special services of IC cards, with which discounts can be provided when they take metros.

Cards are divided into 4 types. Aged people who are above 70 years old can ride metros for free with IC cards, and people whose age are between 60 and 69 years old can enjoy a 20% discount. Primary students and middle school students can get a 50% discount. Other people can also apply for ordinary IC cards, which are provided with a discount of 10%.

Intended residents can apply for cards in daytime from 9:00 to 17:00 in handling stations, with a one-inch identification photo, the identity card, etc.

At present, there are two handling stations in Kunming. One is located at Eastern Bus Station, and another is at Xiaodong Station. After the trail operation, two more handling stations will be set up in urban areas.
