Located at Zhongshan Village, the southeast of Mangshi City, Heihelaopo Ecological Scenic Spot is more than 40 kilometers away from the seat of the city. At an elevation of 2,836 meters, the spot covers an area of 24.6 thousand mu.
The construction of Heihelaopo has started since February 2011, staged in 3 phases, with an investment of 120 million yuan. Phase I is still under construction. Parts of infrastructures have been completed. The Phase II is expected to end by 2015.
There are plenty of flora and fauna in Hehelaopo, including national-level protections: taxus mairei, Taiwania flousiana, toon, nycticebus, bear, silver pheasant and so on. In January 2001, Kunming Botany Institute under Chinese Academy of Sciences found an endangered plant, the dipterocarpaceae.
In addition to sight-seeing, Hehelaopo is a good place for outdoor sports and filming.
